College Scholarship

THE LOCAL 70 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Money donated from the Gary Sycks Family in his honor is matched by your Local 70 Union and being presented to one eligible winner per calendar year in the amount of $1,000.00. If you choose, the award can be written directly to the educational institution of your choice tax free or to the award winner requiring a 1099 form for tax purposes.

ELIGIBILITY

Scholarship applicants must be a spouse, child, grandchild or Local member in good standing or direct descendant of a deceased member who was in good standing. Graduate school students are ineligible.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

• -Leadership in school/civic activities
• -Extra-curricular participation
• -Academic achievement
• -Motivation to serve others

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Applications are available starting in April 2024 and a complete application with an essay must be received June 1, 2024.

AWARD DATE

All scholarship applicants will be notified by mail in July 2024 whether they have been selected. Scholarship checks will be distributed to the winner once the winner has indicated their choice of direct distribution to an educational institution or a check written to the scholarship recipient. Scholarship winners will have a scholarship winner announcement in the Local 70 newsletter the following month.
